Narcotics Transaction Results in Death

Los Angeles: 34-year-old Los Angeles man was shot and killed during a narcotics transaction.

On Friday night, October 21, 2005, at about 10:30 PM, 77th Street Area patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the rear courtyard of 10300 block of South Western Avenue.  Upon arrival the officers found the victim, Corey Rendell Carter, suffering from gunshot wounds.  Carter was taken to a local hospital where he died a short time later.

Victim Carter and an unidentified suspect became involved in a dispute possibly over narcotics.  The suspect fired with a semi-automatic handgun and shot Carter multiple times.

The motive for this incident appears to be narcotics related.  The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 77th Street Homicide Detectives at 213-485-1385.  On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877- LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
