Murder Suspect Captured on Surveillance

Los Angeles: Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a murder suspect.

On Sunday, March 9, 2008, at around 11:30 p.m., off-duty United States Customs and Border Protection employee, Mylus Mondy, drove to an ATM in the 6600 block of La Cienega Westway. Unknown to Mondy, a robbery was in progress at the row of ATM’s. As Mondy walked up to an adjacent ATM, the suspect turned his attention to him and demanded his money. The suspect struck Mondy on the head and pointed a gun at him. Mondy then attempted to run away, but the suspect pursued him while firing. The victim was struck by the gunfire and severely injured.

Mondy was transported to a local hospital where he died on Monday, March 10, 2008.

Bank of America has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, who was captured on the ATM’s surveillance camera during the robbery.

The Surveillance tape may be viewed by contacting Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.

Anyone who may recognize the suspect or with information regarding this murder is asked to call Robbery-Homicide Division Detectives Wallace Tennelle or Corbin Rheault, at 213-485-2129. During off-hours or on weekends, call the 24-hour toll free number 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855).
