LAPD's Mounted Unit Hosts Annual Open House

On Saturday, October 16, 1999 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department's Mounted Unit will be hosting an annual Open House at the Ahmanson Equestrian Facility located at 3934 Rigali Street in Los Angeles (Thomas Guide Coordinates: Page 564, C-7).
Guests and visitors will be given an opportunity to tour the LAPD's state-of-the-art equestrian center, become familiar with the proud history of the Mounted Unit, observe demonstrations of expert horse handling skills and visit with officers assigned to this unique community policing team. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view displays from many of LAPD's other specialized units including:
* K-9s (Canine)
* Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.)
* Traffic Coordination Section
* DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)
* Bomb Squad
* Underwater Dive Team
* Department Recruitment Team
* Air Support
