"Serial Burglars Arrested in Foothill Area"

North Hills: On September 10, 2000 at approximately 1:30 p.m., detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department Detective Support Division Special Investigation Section were in unmarked police vehicles, and were surveilling two male suspects who are known to have committed numerous residential burglaries in Foothill Division. The suspects were observed burglarizing a residence near Sepulveda Boulevard and Lassen Street when the detectives attempted to arrest them. The suspects drove their vehicle in reverse and collided with one unmarked police vehicle. The suspects then fled at a high rate of speed into the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Lassen Street against a red light and collided with two vehicles.

Both suspects were taken into custody for two counts of residential burglary and felony evading. The suspects have been identified as Roldy Juse, 19years of age and Mario Baccillieri, 18 years of age. They received minor injuries due to the collision and were booked at USC Medical Center Jail Ward for treatment.

Two males and one female victim who were involved in the collision were transported to local hospitals for treatment in stable condition.

Foothill Burglary Detectives developed information and served a search warrant where they arrested an additional suspect connected to these serial burglaries. The suspect has been identified as Eric Marcelo, 19 years of age. The detectives identified approximately 12 more residential burglaries in Burbank, Devonshire area and Ventura County.

This case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office on September 13, 2000 for filing. This arrest is expected to result in multiple burglary clearances through Southern California.
