Lock It, Hide It, Keep It Holiday Reminders and Tips

What:
News Conference-LAPD Operation Valley Bureau

When:
November 22, 2010  2 p.m.

Where:
Westfield Topanga Shopping Mall
6600 Topanga Canyon Boulevard
Canoga Park 91303

Who:
LAPD Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese, Operations Valley Bureau
LAPD Commander Sharon Papa, Operations–Valley Bureau
LAPD Commander James Cansler, Operations-Valley Bureau
LAPD Captain Sean Kane, Devonshire Area
LAPD Captain William Scott, Mission Area
LAPD Captain Justin Eisenberg, North Hollywood Area
LAPD Captain Thomas Brascia, Topanga Area
LAPD Captain Ivan Minsal, Topanga Area
LAPD Captain Tia Morris, Van Nuys Area
LAPD Captain John Egan, West Valley Area
LAPD Lieutenant James Setzer, Operations-Valley Bureau
LAPD Sergeant Nate Banry, Operations-Valley Bureau

Why:
As follow up to our previous launch of the “Lock It, Hide It, Keep It” campaign, and a fresh push to bring awareness to the ongoing problem of property crimes.

With the holidays quickly approaching the temptation to leave personal property and shopping bags full of holiday gifts in plain sight becomes greater and inherently creates greater opportunity for thieves to victimize the public.

A demonstration will be presented to exemplify how quickly a burglary theft from vehicle suspect can complete a crime.  The message remains the same, prevent becoming the victim of a property crime by taking a little extra effort and a few extra minutes, and  keeping this simple message in mind, “Lock It, Hide It, Keep It”

For further information contact Officer Tracy Andres at 818-644-8105.
