LAPD Honors News Icon, Stan Chambers

WHAT:
LAPD will be honoring KTLA’s Stan Chambers for his nearly 64-years as a broadcast icon here in Los Angeles.

WHEN:
Thursday, August 19, 2010
1:00 p.m.

WHERE:
Hollywood Area Police Station
1358 North Wilcox
Los Angeles, California 90028

WHO:
KTLA’s Stan Chambers
Hollywood Area Commanding Officer, Beatrice Girmala
Hollywood Area LAPD Officers
Hollywood Fire Station 27, Los Angeles Fire Department personnel

WHY:
Stan has been an integral part of the history of the LAPD as he has covered the Departments for more than six decades.  When Stan Chambers began covering the LAPD in 1947, Clemence B. Horrall was Chief of Police.

Current LAPD chief Charlie Beck grew up watching Stan and has always been a fan of the newsman.  “Stan was always professional, always polite and always fair in his coverage of the LAPD.”

In a fitting tribute to LA’s biggest celebrity in Broadcast News, Stan Chambers will be honored by the men and women of the LAPD’s Hollywood Area Station, after having a retirement lunch at the Los Angeles Fire Department Hollywood Station #27.

Following a special roll call for the newsman, Stan will walk a final footbeat with some of LAPD’s finest.
