Andre Rainey

Bio

Captain Andre Rainey is a 25 year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department. He was sworn in September 1998.

As a Police Officer, his career began in Harbor Division, after completing probation, he was transferred to West LA Division. Captain Rainey then transferred to Southwest Division, where he worked Patrol, Gangs, Vice and an FBI Gang Task Force. After leaving Southwest Division, in December 2006, he was selected to the Elite Metropolitan Division as an Element Member to C-Platoon. While assigned to Metro, he conducted Crime Suppression in all 21 Geographic Areas, participated in numerous Demonstrations, Lakers Parades, Dignitary/POTUS protection details, search warrants and in service training as an instructor for, Mobile Field Force, Arrest and Control and MACTAC.

In 2015, he promoted to the rank of Sergeant in Rampart Division. Where he worked Patrol, Gang Enforcement Detail and Adjutant to the Area Commanding Officer. In 2018, he was selected as a Squad Leader in Metropolitan Division, B-Platoon. In January 2020 he was promoted to Lieutenant as a Patrol Watch Commander in Rampart Division. As a Lieutenant, he was selected for additional assignments at Public Engagement Group as an OIC. Most recently assigned as the Detective Commanding Officer of Rampart Detectives.

In December 2023 he was identified for promotion to Captain as the Patrol Commanding Officer of Foothill Division.

Captain Rainey is a graduate of California State University Fullerton, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of POST Management Leadership and the Los Angeles Police Department Leadership Program.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, working out, and watching various sporting events, football, basketball and auto racing.
