Gerardo Davila

Bio

Captain Davila was born in East Los Angeles, California.  He began his career with the Los Angeles Police Department on June 12, 1995.  He worked most of his career as a Police Officer in Southeast Division.  He was a Police Officer 2, Police Officer Officer 3 (Field Training Officer), Vice Investigator, and a Police Officer 3+1 (Senior Lead Officer), prior to being promoted to Sergeant in 2007.  As a Sergeant, Captain Davila worked various Divisions, including Southwest Division, Jail Division, Internal Audits and Inspections, and Harbor Division.  At Harbor Division, Captain Davila worked the following assignments: Assistant Watch Commander, Vice Officer in Charge, and Training Coordinator.

In 2017, Captain Davila was promoted to Lieutenant and transferred to Southwest Division.  In 2019, he was promoted to Lieutenant II at Operations-Central Bureau where his assignment was the Bureau Vice Coordinator.  Captain Davila then transferred back to Southwest Division as the Officer in Charge of the Gang Impact Team (GIT) where he oversaw the daily operations of the Gang Enforcement Detail (GED) and the Narcotics Enforcement Detail (NED). In February 2024, Captain Davila was promoted to Captain I and served Newton Community.

In January of 2024, Captain Davila was promoted to the Commanding Officer of Hollenbeck Area.

Captain Davila earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Studies from California State University Dominguez Hills.  He also earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from California State University Northridge.  Captain Davila has also taught Criminal Justice courses at California State University Fullerton in the past.

Captain Davila is married with two adult children.  His son, David, works as a Cyber Security Specialist in the State of Virginia, and his daughter, Anna, has begun her studies in the field of Nursing.
