Captain Jess Falk was born in Johnson City, New York in 1982. After graduating from Candor Central High School, Captain Falk studied Sociology at Ithaca College, in Ithaca New York. After graduating college in 2005, he relocated to Southern California. Desiring to pursue a career in Law Enforcement, Captain Falk entered the Los Angeles Police Academy in 2006.
Upon graduation from the Los Angeles Police Academy, Captain Falk was assigned to Southwest Patrol Division where he completed his probation, then transferred to Pacific Patrol Division. As an officer, Captain Falk has worked a variety of assignments including patrol, SPU, traffic, Hollywood Vice, and as a field training officer.
In 2014, he was promoted to Sergeant. As a Sergeant, Captain Falk was assigned to Northeast Division and Custody Services Division. In 2016, Captain Falk was selected to Internal Affairs Group-Advocate Section where he was eventually upgraded to Sergeant II. In 2018, he was chosen as an Investigator, assigned to Force Investigation Division.
In August of 2020, Captain Falk was promoted to Lieutenant where he returned to Hollywood as a Patrol Watch Commander. In 2021, he was upgraded to Lieutenant II assigned to Professional Standards Bureau as the Department Advocate and was later chosen to be a Lieutenant Officer-In-Charge of an Administrative Investigative Team assigned to Force Investigation Division. In July of 2025, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned as the Patrol Commander Officer of Rampart Division.
Captain Falk graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He also earned a Master’s degree in political science from California State University at Northridge. Captain Falk has also completed a number of professional training courses, including; the LAPD Leadership School, FEMA’s Enhanced All-Hazards Incident Management at Texas A&M, and FEMA’s Incident Response School at New Mexico Tech.
On his personal time Captain Falk enjoys music, motorcycling, and spending time with his sons.
