Bio

Commander Steven Ramos was born and raised in Massachusetts and attended Old Rochester Regional High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served six years in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. Steven graduated from Westfield State University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Captain Ramos moved to California to join the Los Angeles Police Department and entered the Academy in April of 1998. After completing his probationary period in Pacific Area, he was transferred to Transit Bus Division.

Steven transferred to Wilshire Area and worked as a Field Training Officer, before returning to Pacific to work the Venice Beach Detail and the Vice Unit. Steven promoted to Sergeant in 2007 and was assigned to Southeast Area, where he worked Patrol and the Crime Intelligence Team. Steven returned to Pacific and worked several assignments including the Venice Beach Detail, Parole Compliance Unit, Crime Intelligence Team, Detectives, and Assistant Watch Commander. In 2013, Steven transferred to the Office of Operations and worked as the Assistant Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Evaluation and Administration Section (EAS) and Commander’s Aide.

Captain Ramos was promoted to Lieutenant in 2014 and was assigned to Rampart Area as a Watch Commander. He returned to the Office of Operations and worked as the OIC of EAS before promoting to Captain in October of 2017. Steven served as the Patrol Commanding. Officer of Newton Area until August of 2019. He also served as the Commanding Officer of Innovation Management Divisions and the Assistant Commanding Officer of Risk Management and Legal Affairs Division. Captain Ramos is now assigned as the Commanding Officer of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Division.
