Javier Sanchez

Bio

Captain Javier Sanchez was born in Los Angeles to first-generation immigrants from Mexico and raised in the San Gabriel Valley. He joined the Los Angeles Police Department in March 1999 and has proudly served the Department for more than 26 years in operational, investigative and administrative capacities.

As a patrol officer, Captain Sanchez worked assignments in North Hollywood, Southwest, and Northeast Areas. While at Northeast, he served as a vice investigator, field training officer, and Juvenile Car officer. In 2008, he was promoted to Detective and worked in the Abused Child Section. Five years later, he promoted to Sergeant at Southwest Area, where he gained additional experience in patrol and the University Park Task Force.

In 2014, Captain Sanchez was assigned to the Internal Affairs Division (IAD) as a Detective II before promoting to Sergeant II at the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) Advocate Section. In 2021, he was promoted to Lieutenant, serving first as watch commander at Southwest Area and then as the Department Advocate at PSB. In 2025, Captain Sanchez was promoted to the rank of Captain and now serves as the Commanding Officer of Olympic Area Patrol Division.

Captain Sanchez holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management and Leadership and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration, both from the University of La Verne.
He is married and the proud father of three children. In his free time, Captain Sanchez enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with his family.
