Captain Michael Soliman attended UCLA where his undergraduate studies were in the fields of Biology and Kinesiology. After a brief career as a Chiropractor, he joined the Department in April 1996 and, upon completion of the police academy, was assigned to Northeast Area. In that first year, he was loaned to Rampart Area and assigned to the Narcotics Enforcement Team in MacArthur Park. In 1998, he transferred to Southeast Area where he was assigned to proactively protect the residents of the various housing developments for nearly 5 years. Captain Soliman then transferred to Hollenbeck Area and was assigned to the Gang Enforcement Detail where he developed expertise in gangs, narcotics, and firearms. Following a loan to Hollenbeck Gang Detectives, he was assigned to Major Crimes Division, Anti-Terrorism Intelligence Section, as a Police Officer III, in 2006.
In 2008, he promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was a member of the Topanga Area Transition Team. As part of the team, he aided in preparing and opening the newest Division in the City. In 2009, he transferred to 77th Street Area and was assigned to supervise the Prostitution Enforcement Detail and Special Problems Unit. He was then assigned to the Operations South Bureau Complaint Unit before moving to Communications Division as a Sergeant II.
In 2015, he promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned to Pacific Area as a Watch Commander. He then moved to the Venice Beach Detail as the Officer-in-Charge. In 2019, he transferred to Northeast Area and held various assignments including Watch Commander, Administrative Lieutenant, Complaint Coordinator, and Acting Detective Commanding Officer. In 2024, he moved to Wilshire Area as the Lieutenant II Officer-in-Charge of the Wilshire Area Gang Impact Team. In that assignment, he oversaw the Wilshire Area Gang, Narcotics, and Vice units.
In 2026, he promoted to the rank of Captain and is currently assigned to Southwest Patrol Division.
