Commander Jonathan Tom serves as the Assistant Commanding Officer of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Professional Standards Bureau, where he oversees the Internal Affairs Division, Special Operations Division, and Force Investigation Division. With more than 30 years of law enforcement leadership experience, he has commanded patrol, investigative, and administrative units throughout the LAPD, including Operations-West Bureau, West Los Angeles Area, Critical Incident Review Division, South Traffic Division, Rampart Division, and Olympic Detective Division.
Commander Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a Master of Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law’s Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. His professional interests include organizational conflict management, workplace investigations, leadership development, and dispute resolution within law enforcement organizations.
A former President of the Law Enforcement Association of Asian Pacifics (LEAAP), Commander Tom is a frequent mentor and instructor to emerging law enforcement leaders and regularly presents on leadership, organizational conflict, and professional standards.
