Suspect Arrested in a 30-Year-Old Murder Case NR09370ne
Los Angeles: On Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 6:30 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detectives took into custody, 63 year-old Ricardo Reyes at his residence in Los Angeles. Reyes was recently identified by witnesses in the 1979 murder of Hugo Saltos Quiroz.
On February 11, 1979, at around 1a.m., Quiroz was shot and killed at the Nuevo Colima bar located at 6210 S. Western Avenue. Quiroz was only 23 years old at the time of his death. Quiroz was at the bar when Reyes and his brother, Pedro Reyes entered and confronted the bartender and owner about the recent shooting of their brother Ramiro. The initial investigation by LAPD 77th Division homicide detectives led to the issuance of a murder warrant for Ricardo Reyes on February 16, 1979.
On April 17, 2009, Pedro Reyes was arrested for the warrant in Atlanta, Georgia as he was re-entering the United States from Mexico.
