Fatal Hit and Run Kills Elderly Woman NR16084TI

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department South Traffic Area detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a hit and run collision, which killed a 64-year-old Asian woman.

On March 3, 2016, around 6:30 a.m., a dark colored 4-door Ford Explorer was traveling north on Normandie Avenue, when it rear ended an unoccupied school bus at 76th Street. The suspect placed the vehicle in reverse and drove around the school bus and onto the sidewalk, striking a pedestrian.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and transported the 64 -year -old woman to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.

The vehicle continued traveling northbound without stopping to render aid, and identify him or herself, as required by law.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
