Hit And Run Traffic Collision Results In Death

"Hit And Run Traffic Collision Results In Death"

Los Angeles: On Sunday, April 7, 2002, at approximately 10:10 a.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Figueroa Street and Rosecrans Avenue. The collision occurred when a 1984 Mazda 626 entered the intersection in a northbound direction on Figueroa Street and collided with a 1986 Toyota Celica that was westbound on Rosecrans Avenue. The impact caused both vehicles to travel in a northwesterly direction and collide with a 1996 Infinity G20.

Immediately after the collision, the driver of the Mazda, exited his vehicle and left the scene on foot. In doing so, the driver failed to identify himself, render first aid or call for emergency medical assistance.

The driver of the Mazda ran south on Figueroa and was observed by witnesses, and a responding L.A. County Sheriffs Sergeant, to climb onto the roof of a building on the southeast corner near the scene of the collision. He was taken into custody without incident.

The driver of the Toyota Celica sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Mazda has been identified as Danny Harley, a 27 year old resident of Diamond Bar. He was booked at 77th Street Area Jail for Murder Vehicular Manslaughter.
