Sidewalk Shooting Ends in Death

 

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Area Homicide Detectives are investigating the murder of 19 year-old Wesley Keene.

On Sunday, April 27, 2003 at approximately 8:40 p.m., Keene was standing on the sidewalk in front of a residence in the 1400 block of 68th Street when he was approached by a male Black gunman. Wearing all black clothing, the gunman pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired several gunshots. Shot in the head, Keene fell to the sidewalk and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries, on the following day, April 28, 2003, at 5:05 p.m.

The shooting does not appear to be gang related.
