Building Manager Finds Dead Body

Los Angeles: On April 13, 2005 , at approximately 5:20 p.m. Rampart patrol officers were called to the 800 block of Westlake Avenue for a death investigation. Officers arrived and saw the partial decomposed body of a female victim.

The building's manager told officers he recalled smelling a foul order emitting from an apartment. Upon entering the apartment he noticed the body of an unconscious female lying in bed and immediately called paramedics. The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Corner's Office discovered a cloth wrapped around the victim's throat.

The victim is described as a female Hispanic approximately 45 years of age. Her death is being listed as a homicide and the cause of death is undetermined pending a Corner's examination. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Suspect(s) and motive in the case are unknown at this time.
