Son Arrested for the Murder of His Mother

Los Angeles: On August 6, 2004, the manager of the Paradise Lodge Motel, at 20128 Roscoe Boulevard in Winnetka, went to room 208 to confirm the occupants had vacated the room. The manager entered the room and discovered the body of a female lying dead on the bed. The manager recognized the deceased as Jeanne Alosi. Ms. Alosi was the person who had rented the room yesterday, along with Ms. Alosi’s son, Gary Bruce Roberts. The manager called 911 and the responding paramedics’ determined the deceased had been strangled to death.

As the police investigation at the motel unfolded, the son of the victim, 46 year-old Gary Bruce Roberts, walked into a nearby flower shop on Saticoy street in Reseda. Roberts then asked the clerk to call the police, as he had just killed his mother in a motel. The clerk then called 911 and West Valley patrol officers responded to the flower shop and took the suspect into custody. Roberts stated he strangled his mother to death and her body was at the Paradise Lodge Motel.

Mr. Roberts was then transported to West Valley Station and while there began to experience chest pains. Roberts was then transported to Northridge Hospital, by Los Angeles City Fire Department Personnel, where he was admitted for observation.

Mr. Roberts has been arrested for the murder of his seventy-four year old mother and is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office next week for formal filing consideration The motive for the crime is still under investigation, but appears to have stemmed from an ongoing family dispute between Roberts, his mother, and Robert’s two teenage children.

West Valley Homicide Detectives are conducting the investigation and can be reached at 818-756-8553.
