Los Angeles: 77th Street Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting incident that led to the death of 19-year-old DeAndre McConnell of Los Angeles.

On Thursday evening, August 25, 2005, at approximately 7:00 PM DeAndre was walking to a store in the 7500 block of South Raymond Avenue, when 4-6 male Black suspects drove by and fired several shots at him.  DeAndre received gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital where he died a short time later.  The motive appears to be gang related.  The suspects' car was described as a tan small compact.
