Distraction Burglaries Targeting Elderly

What:
News Conference to announce a citywide pattern of burglaries against elderly victims, at which suspects distract the victims using ruses while accomplices burglarize their homes.

When:
Thursday, August 17, 2006

100 N. Los Angeles Street, LA 90012

Who:
Detective Jeff Anderson, Commercial Crimes Division
A retired LAPD officer who helped arrest a suspect
96-year-old victim of the burglaries

Why:
The Los Angeles Police Department wants to make the public aware of the recent burglaries and the methods that are being used by the suspects. Los Angeles Police Detectives will also provide preventive tips to avoid becoming a victim.

A training DVD, produced for police officers, will be shown. A pin map of the burglary locations will be displayed.
