Purse Snatcher Injures 86-Year-Old Victim NR10418bb

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Pacific Area detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who robbed an 86- year-old woman.

On July 28, 2010, at around 3 p.m., the suspect followed the victim to her residence in the Westchester area of Los Angeles.  As she exited her car parked in the garage of her residence, the suspect pulled her purse off her arm, causing injury.  The suspect then ran from the garage to a waiting getaway car and sped away.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing 175-190 pounds and about 20-24 years old.  The suspect has tattoos on the left side of his neck,  left wrist and hand.  He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, black jeans and blue and black tennis shoes.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Pacific Area Robbery Detective John Armando at (310) 482-6396.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.   Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crimestoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
