Gang Shooting Leaves Two Dead
Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Detectives from Rampart Division are investigating the double murder of an 11-year-old juvenile, and a 25-year-old male.
On October 12, 2008, at about 6:30 p.m., Rampart patrol officers responded to an ambulance shooting investigation at the 1400 block of West 11th Street. When officers arrived they found the juvenile on the ground unconscious and covered with blood. The juvenile was suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso. The juvenile was transported to Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The second victim was found at the rear of 1435 West 11th Street. He was also found on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He was also transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation revealed that both victims were standing with a group of individuals on the sidewalk across from 1420 Connecticut Street when two suspects approached the group. Witnesses heard several gunshots and saw the suspects enter a grey 4-door, possible Honda with white spots. The suspects are described as male Hispanics, with shaved heads, 17-18 years of age, wearing grey shirts and black pants.
Both victims ran on foot and collapsed onto the ground where they were found. A possible third victim who may have been struck on the foot fled the location prior to officers arrival and his identity remains unknown.
The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The suspects and weapon are still outstanding. The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang related.
