WHAT: The Department of Children and Family Services and the Los Angeles Police Department will present a recruitment orientation program promoting the positive aspects of becoming a foster or adoptive parent.

WHY:A unique presentation will be made to all interested Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) employees interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. LAPD has promoted this recruitment message extensively to their staff throughout the city’s police stations. The theme of this recruitment event is, “There is More Than One Way to be a Hero.” The presentation will include a panel of foster and adoptive families, two of which are LAPD officers including Officer Deandre James.

Heart Gallery LA seeks to find loving and permanent families for foster youth by displaying life-size photographs of those youth currently waiting to be adopted. Professional and award-winning photographers volunteer their talents to capture the resilient and charismatic spirit of foster youth. This traveling showcase is currently on display in the lobby of the LAPD Headquarters.
