City of Los Angeles Offers Reward

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Monday, December 27, 1999

On December 28, 1996, at approximately 10:30 PM, Rashan Wright, 18 years old, and Willie Birl, 20 years old, were discovered shot to death inside an apartment in the 200 block of North Centre Street, in San Pedro, California. Both young men were aspiring athletes. Wright, a student and football player at San Pedro High School and Birl, a student and football player at Pierce College in Woodland Hills.

The City of Los Angeles is offering a reward of $50,000.00 for information leading to the identity, arrest, and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for the crimes.

On December 28, 1999, at 2:00 P.M., Harbor Area Community Police Station will be holding a press conference in front of the station, 2175 John Gibson Boulevard, San Pedro. Captain Michael Melton, Commanding Officer, Harbor Operations-Support Division will conduct the press conference. The parents and family members of both victims will also be present.
