Gunfire Kills Young Girl

Los Angeles: Another apparent gang related shooting has taken the life of a 16-year-old female from Highland Park.

On February 6, 2007, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of 3200 Verdugo Road in Glassell Park to investigate a shooting. When they arrived they discovered Melissa Paul lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to her chest.

Detectives believe Paul was the victim of a drive by shooting.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she failed to respond to treatment and died.
