Hit-and-Run Motorist fatally injured a 34-year-old man NR11303rh

***UPDATE***

The victim in this incident is identified as Miguel Aquino Quihua.

Los Angeles:
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) South Traffic Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a driver who fatally struck a man crossing the street in San Pedro.

On Sunday, July 3, 2011, at about 2 a.m., a 34-year-old man was crossing the street east on Pacific Avenue at 14th Street when he was struck by a white Ford F-150 pick-up truck with tinted windows traveling north on Pacific Avenue.

The driver of the white Ford F-150 pick-up truck left the scene northbound Pacific Avenue failing to render aid or identifying himself or herself as required by law.

Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. The hit-and-run driver and pick-up truck remain outstanding.

There is no driver description and the Ford F-150 is described as having large tires and a wide gold or silver stripe running along the body of the truck.  The pick-up truck may have front end damage.

Anyone with information about this incident or whereabouts of this vehicle or driver is urged to contact South Traffic Division Detective Jimmy Render at 323-290-6064.   During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.”  Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
