DUI Probable Cause of Fatal traffic Collision

Los Angeles: On Saturday, July 27, at approximately 11:30 p.m., 33-year-old Alfonso Moreno Estrada of Los Angeles, was the front passenger of a 1988 Toyota Corolla, driven by 30- year-old Cesar Ojeda. Ojeda was driving westbound on Vernon Avenue at Lima Street when his vehicle was struck on the right front side by a 1997 Ford F-150 truck, which was driven by Alberto Barrillas Avalos of Los Angeles.

Estrada sustained major head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. Ojeda and two other male adult passengers, 32 and 36 years of age, received minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Avalos was determined to be under the influence of an intoxicant and was arrested for vehicular manslaughter, 191.5 P.C.
