Citywide there has been 17 fatal traffic collisions involving motorcycles between January 2002 and June 2005.  The primary collision factor was the result of unsafe turns on the part of four-wheeled motorist.  The news conference is intended to make the public aware of the need to pay closer attention in detecting motorcycle riders as they execute left turns.  Also the proper wearing of safety clothing for motorcycle riders.
