Police Seek Driver and Vehicle Involved in a Hit and Run

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a vehicle and its driver, who is wanted for the hit and run of two pedestrians.

On the evening of June 9, 2005, 37-year-old Eric Van Rhein and his friend, 45-year-old Karen Moy were walking northbound across Rowena Avenue, at Herkimer Avenue, when they were both struck by a silver 2002-2004 Toyota Corolla.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, identify himself and render aid, leaving Van Rehin hospitalized in a coma.  Moy will be released from the hospital today, following surgery to her right elbow.

Investigators said the driver’s vehicle has collision damage to the left front.

Anyone with information is asked to call Central Traffic Detectives Kaden or Meneses at 213-972-1825 or 213-972-1853.  On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
