LAPD Avails Toll Free 24-Hour Number to Public

Los Angeles: Following the September 11th tragedy, the Los Angeles Police Department, in its continuing effort to better serve the community, established a 24-hour toll free telephone number. The new toll free number is 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855) and is supported on a 24-hour basis by the Detective Information Desk (DID) at Detective Headquarters Division (DHD).

The number is available to the general public to report crimes and other incidents that require investigation by an entity of this Department. The number may also be used to provide detectives with additional vital information to an on-going investigation.

The Department is requesting the assistance of the media to publicize this toll free number, and encourage its use as appropriate.

For further information, contact Media Relations Section at 213-485-3586. This press release was prepared by Public Information Officer Jason Lee.
