Detectives Investigate Death of Bicyclist

"Detectives Investigate Death of Bicyclist"

Los Angeles: On Thursday, March 18, 2004, at around 6:50 p.m., Harbor Area Patrol Officers responded to a radio call of shots fired near the intersection of Denni Street and McDonald Avenue in Wilmington.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they found victim Martin Grajeda, a 31-year old Hispanic male with multiple gunshot wounds. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics also responded to the location, treated him at scene then transported Grajeda to UCLA/Harbor Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.

During the investigation, Harbor Homicide Detectives found that victim Grajeda was riding a bicycle on Denni Street when he met with an unknown suspect who may have also been riding a bike. During the encounter, the victim and suspect became engaged in dispute, whereupon the suspect shot the victim numerous times. The suspect then left the scene southbound on McDonald Street.
