LAPD Officer, UCLA Surgeon and the LA Marathon Runner They Saved, Talk About Life-changing Experience

WHAT:
Press conference to introduce 21-year-old USC student Jay Yim, UCLA physicians, and the LAPD motorcycle officer who saved his life.

LAPD Motorcycle Officer Josh Sewell, West Traffic Division
Jay Yim, LA Marathon runner and his family
Dr. Paul Vespa, UCLA Professor of neurology and neurosurgery; medical director of UCLA’s Neurointensive Care Unit
Dr. Charles Chandler, UCLA physician, clinical professor of surgery

WHY:
On Sunday, March 21, 2010, Jay Yim collapsed with apparent cardiac arrest at the 18th mile of the Los Angeles Marathon.  LAPD Motorcycle Officer Josh Sewell from West Traffic Division and UCLA Physician Charles Chandler were standing nearby and immediately administered CPR.  

On Thursday, April 1, 2010, before being released from the hospital, Jay Yim will meet with Officer Sewell, Dr. Vespa and Dr. Chandler to talk about his experience and to personally thank those who saved his life.

PARKING:
Oversized media trucks: Parking for oversized media trucks is available along the southbound side of Westwood Plaza, between Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and the UCLA Medical Plaza buildings. A parking attendant will be available for direction.
 
Passenger vehicles: Passenger vehicles must park at 200 Medical Plaza, accessed by making the first left after Le Conte Avenue when traveling northbound on Westwood Boulevard.  Follow the ramp to the underground parking structure and obtain a parking pass at the gate. UCLA will provide a parking validation at the press check-in table.
