La Mirada:  On March 1, 2012, around 8:50 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers, along with an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shot and killed a Los Angeles gang member wanted for a double homicide that occurred in Los Angeles.

On November 30, 2011, a double homicide occurred in the City of Los Angeles in LAPD’s Hollenbeck Area.  During the course of the investigation, Hollenbeck Area homicide detectives determined the identification of the suspect.  He was identified as a 27 year old male Hispanic gang member who resides in Hollenbeck Area.

Hollenbeck homicide detectives sought help from the LAPD/Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Fugitive Task Force in order to locate the suspect.  The task force members determined that the suspect was likely hiding in a home in the 15500 block of Escalona Drive in the City of La Mirada.

On March 1, around 8:30 A.M., LAPD/ FBI Task Force members responded to La Mirada, along with Career Criminal Detail Detectives from Hollenbeck Area.  They surrounded the home and determined that the wanted murder suspect was inside.  As residents of the house walked out the front door, the LAPD helicopter flying overhead advised that the suspect had just left the house via a rear door.  The suspect climbed onto the roof of an adjacent residence that was already surrounded by LAPD officers and FBI agents.

While on the roof, the suspect refused to comply with officers orders and an officer involved shooting occurred, involving three LAPD officers and one FBI agent.  The suspect was handcuffed while still on the roof, and the LA County Fire Department Paramedics responded.  Paramedics pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene.

LAPD Hollenbeck Area detectives are investigating the double homicide, and LAPD Force Investigation Division personnel in coordination with the FBI are investigating the officer involved shooting.
