Drive-by Shooting in Devonshire Area

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Saturday, November 28, 1998

On November 28, 1998, at 0:30 a.m., a drive-by shooting occurred in front of 8960 Orion Avenue, in the North Hills region of Devonshire Area. The victim was walking on the east side of the street when multiple shots were fired from a passing vehicle. The victim was struck an unknown number of times in the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Frank Vela, a 21 year old, resident of North Hills. The description of the suspect vehicle and suspect(s) remains unknown however, efforts to locate potential witnesses are continuing. The motive for the crime is also unknown.
