Holiday Traffic Enforcement

What:
Motorists and Pedestrian Traffic Enforcement

When:
Thursday, December 4, 2008 8:30 a.m.

Where:
Reseda Boulevard and Dearborn Street

Who:
Valley Traffic Division Officers

Why:
In the United States, a pedestrian is killed in a traffic collision every 113 minutes and injured in a traffic crash every 8 minutes.  In the San Fernando Valley, through the year 2008, there has been a 36% increase in pedestrian traffic fatalities compared to the same period in 2007.

A plain clothes police officer will be crossing the street to ensure motorists yield the right of way to pedestrians.  Those motorists who do not yield to the pedestrian will be cited.  Pedestrian safety tips will also be provided to attending press crews.

The Los Angeles Police Department wants to remind motorists and pedestrians to be extra cautious during the Holiday season.

For further information contact Detective William Bustos at 818-644-8021.
