Jewelry Store Robbery Suspect Arrested

Los Angeles: On August 3, 2002, at approximately 11:15 a.m., three suspects wearing ski masks entered Ing Brother Jewelry Store, located at 728 North Hill Street, Unit 135, in Chinatown. The suspects were armed with rifles and carried a duffel bag. The suspects ordered everyone to the ground and ransacked the location. One of the suspects fired numerous rounds in the store with his rifle as the other two suspects exited the store. The suspects took more than one hundred thousand dollars worth of jewelry. None of the victims were injured during the robbery.

A series of similar robberies have occurred during the past few months in the Chinatown area. The Los Angles Police Department’s Asian Crime Investigation Section has conducted an extensive investigation on each case and has determined that the same suspects may have committed the robberies.

On October 23, 2002, members of the Asian Crime Investigation Section, conducted a search warrant at one of the suspect’s residence.

David Lo, a 20-year old Chinese-Cambodian, was arrested for the robbery and three guns were recovered from his residence.

The detectives are aggressively investigating this case to identify the three outstanding suspects. Anyone who has information on these suspects is urged to call Officer Kris Tu at Asian Crime Investigation Section, 213-473-7333. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk, 1-877-LAWFULL, 1-877-529-3855.

This press release was prepared by Public Information Officer Jason Lee, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
