Man Dies After Receiving Injection From Healer

" Man Dies After Receiving Injection From Healer "

Los Angeles: On Monday, October 28, 2002, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Van Nuys Area Officers were flagged down by a community member at the 15700 block of Marlin Street. The person told the officers that his friend, later identified as 54 year-old, Roberto Alonso Caceres, needed medical help.

The person directed the officers to Caceres’ location. The officers discovered Caceres to be unresponsive and a rescue ambulance was summoned. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics arrived and transported Caceres to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the death has not been determined. However, it is believed that Caceres was at the location receiving treatment from a healer. He began convulsing after being administered an injection.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Van Nuys Homicide Unit at 818-756-8377. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk, 1-877-LAWFULL, 1-877-529-3855.

This press release was prepared by Public Information Officer Lucy Diaz, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
