"LAPD Participates in Music Festival in the Park"

Who:
Representatives of the San Fernando Valley Hate Crimes Alliance

What:
"Music Festival in the Park" Information Booth Staffed by Individuals from City Government, Private Agencies and Support Groups, Providing Resources on Hate Crimes/Incidents in North Hollywood and Los Angeles.

When:
Saturday, September 21, and Sunday, September 22, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Where:
North Hollywood Park, South Location, Intersection of Magnolia Boulevard and Tujunga Avenue

Los Angeles: The diverse communities of Los Angeles depend upon a symbiotic relationship with City officials, resources, and most importantly, each other, to achieve a peaceful and supportive social fabric of society.

It is this social relationship that erodes whenever a hate crime or hate incident occurs within the City of Los Angeles.

It is essential that City resources, such as the Los Angeles Police Department, be actively involved in the monitoring, policing and prevention of this destructive element that affects our city residents on a daily basis.

Staffed by knowledgeable individuals from several city entities, the information booth that will be located at the North Hollywood Park, will offer free information and materials to festival participants.

The festival, sponsored by the City of Los Angeles Recreation & Parks Department, will feature several free events including music, classic car show, dance contests and other children’s events. The festival hours are from 1:30 to 7:00 p.m.

This media advisory was prepared by Public Information Officer Jack Richter, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
