Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) proudly announces that it will graduate a new class of police recruits at an open ceremony that will take place at the historic Elysian Park Police Academy. The new officers will have completed 1064 hours of training over the course of 28 weeks.

The graduating class of 39 recruits (33 males and 6 females) will don their "covers" (patrol hats) and become probationary officers to be assigned at LAPD Divisions throughout the City of Los Angeles.

It is anticipated that over 500 guests will attend the ceremony, with Chief Martin H. Pomeroy conducting a formal inspection of the recruit class. Members of the Police Commission and the Police Department Command Staff will be in attendance, as well as other dignitaries.
