Man Shot and Killed in North Hills

Los Angeles: On Sunday, September 5, 2004, at approximately 3:50 a.m., Devonshire Area Patrol Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 8900 block of Columbus Avenue, in North Hills. Upon their arrival, officers saw the body of a male Hispanic with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds lying on the east sidewalk of Columbus Avenue. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location and pronounced the victim dead at 4:00 a.m..

Preliminary witness information indicated two male Hispanics approached the victim on foot and fired multiple rounds, striking him in the upper body. The suspects left the scene in an unknown direction.

The victim is a twenty-two year-old resident of North Hills and a documented gang member.

His name is being withheld pending notification to his family.
