One Dies, Three Injured in South Los Angeles Shooting

Los Angeles: Four people were shot and one died Monday afternoon in southwest Los Angeles.

On July 30, 2007, around 5:15 p.m., a group of approximately ten females were gathered in the cul-de-sac of West View Street, just north of Adams Boulevard. A vehicle with an unknown number of occupants stopped and confronted the group. An altercation ensued and multiple gunshots were fired.

Shantell Martinez, a female Hispanic, 18, was struck by gunfire. She was rushed to a local hospital by LAFD paramedics. She succumbed to her injuries at 8:30 p.m. Also hit were two Black females, Laniece Dalcour, 20, and Jaylia Muhammand, 19. Both transported to the hospital for serious but not life-threatening injuries. Adrian Timothy Wade, a male Black, 22, was treated for injuries and released.

The suspects were described only as three Black males, 19-21 years of age. The crime does not appear to have been gang related.

South Bureau Homicide Detectives Jim Roshida and Vince Carreon are handling the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call South Bureau Homicide at 213-485-2417, during normal business hours. After hours and on weekends, please phone the 24-hour Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAW-FULL (877-529-2855).
