Concerned Friend, Killed Outside House Party NR09348SF

Los Angeles:  Two juveniles are booked for murder after killing a 21-year-old man.

During the late evening hours of Friday, July 17th,  21-year-old Stinson Ameer Brown and his friends attended a party in the 4200 Block of Don Tapia Place, in Los Angeles.

When the party ended around 11:30 p.m., Brown and his companions left the residence and noticed that a group of young men were watching and appeared to be waiting for them.  Brown and his companions got into a car and drove away from the party.  But shortly after leaving, they returned to the location to make sure the friends who remained at the house were okay.

After checking on his friends at the house, Brown walked back to the vehicle that was parked down the street.  Several suspects walked past Brown as he stood near the car, but did not speak to him.  Two of the suspects stopped a short distance away and one of the subjects produced a chrome .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and shot Brown multiple times.

The suspects ran and hid in nearby yard, but were located by LAPD Officers and taken into custody without incident.  The officers searched the area where they were hiding and found a chrome .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

Both juvenile subjects were booked for murder and are being held without bail.

The death of Stinson Ameer Brown is especially difficult for the LAPD family.  The victim is the only son of LAPD Police Officer Stinson Brown who is assigned to Training Division.  The young Stinson Brown had great athletic abilities and had hoped to have a career playing football.  His father says he raised his son to be a "responsible and outstanding member of society."  The LAPD family grieves with Officer Brown and is extending its support and offering assistance through Department resources.

Detectives Hansen and Kingi, Criminal Gang/Homicide Group, Southwest Homicide Squad are handling the investigation.  Anyone with additional information is asked to call them at 213-485-1385.

During off-hours, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll-free number at1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247).  Callers may also text "Crimes" with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web tips. When using a cell phone, all messages should begin with "LAPD."  Tipsters may remain anonymous.
