Los Angeles: On Thursday, August 22, 2002, dozens of Los Angeles Police Department officers from the West Valley Area, Valley Traffic Division, and Valley Bureau Headquarters, will focus on violent crime and community quality of life issues in an effort to reduce crime in West Valley Area.

The focus area will be the area bordered by Roscoe Boulevard on the north, White Oak Avenue on the east, Vanowen Street on the south and Topanga Canyon Boulevard on the west.

Operations will commence at 9:00 a.m. and will continue past midnight. There will be zero tolerance for traffic violations and criminal acts in the affected area.

Recent past task forces in other parts of the Valley have resulted in hundreds of traffic citations, vehicle impounds, and dozens of arrests.

Other similar task forces to combat violent crime and improve the quality of life will be conducted in other parts of the Valley throughout the summer.
