44-Year-Old Man Shot and Killed

Los Angeles: Los Angeles police officials are searching for a gunman who brutally killed a man early this morning in mid-city Wilshire area.

At about 12:30 a.m., a citizen called police and reported a man lying in the street. When officers arrived, they found a 44-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to investigators, the man was walking in the 800 block of Lucerne Boulevard when a gunman walked up and shot him.

The man was shot once and died at the scene.

Police believe a robbery or a verbal dispute was the motive for the killing.

Police are interested in speaking with two motorists who may have information about the shooting incident. The motorists drove by the scene after the shooting. One of the motorists was driving a Ford 150 pick-up truck and the other, a Honda passenger car.

The victim's name is being withheld until a family member has been notified.

Investigators have no suspect description and few leads.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to contact Wilshire Homicide Detectives John Shafia or Victor Arellano at 213-473-0446. During off-hours or on weekends call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855).
