Shooting Leaves Security Guard dead, another Injured

Los Angeles: An exchange of gunfire at an Auto Zone store left a 60-year-old security guard dead and another man seriously wounded yesterday evening in Wilshire area.

At 10:00 p.m., a shooting call was reported to police at 1905 South Western Avenue. When police arrived, they found 60-year-old Hernan Cardona, a resident of South Gate and another victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

Cardona died at the scene, the second victim was taken to a local hospital where his is listed in stable condition.

According to detectives, Cardona worked as an armed security guard and stood outside of the store. Two men approached him and an exchange of gunfire erupted. In the midst of the shooting Cardona was shot several times.

Police need help searching for two male Blacks, 18-25 years of age, wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.

Investigators are in the initial stage of their investigation and have not determined what prompt the shooting.
