$1.46 Million in Stolen Train Cargo Recovered; One Arrest Made in Major Cargo Theft Investigation NR25202kt

Los Angeles: On Monday, October 6, 2025, detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Commercial Crimes Division, Cargo Theft Unit, in collaboration with the Union Pacific Railroad Police, Los Angeles Port Police, Los Angeles World Airport Police, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office – Bureau of Investigations, served a search warrant in the 4300 block of Verona Street in the City of Los Angeles.

During the operation, detectives recovered an estimated $1,460,000 in stolen train cargo, including Nike shoes, Milwaukee tools, and electronic equipment. The suspect, Alejandro Aguilar-Espinoza, 41 years old, a resident of Los Angeles, was arrested without incident. Detectives responded to his residences after receiving information indicating the presence of stolen cargo. Aguilar-Espinoza was booked at the LAPD Metropolitan Detention Center for Receiving Stolen Property (Penal Code 496(a)) under Booking #7104643.

This investigation underscores the importance of interagency collaboration in combating large-scale cargo theft and preserving the integrity of Southern California’s commercial supply chains. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
