WHY:
The Battle of the Badges blood drives began in 2007 in Southern
California as an opportunity for badge-carrying personnel to help
hospital patients in need through a friendly competition. The
program has become the nation’s largest and most successful law
enforcement blood drive.

This year, the Battle of the Badges Campaign achieved approximately
4,794 units of life-saving blood – that’s up to 14,282 lives that
may have been saved.

Nearly 40,000 law enforcement officers, first responders, friends
and family have rolled up their sleeves, over the years of the
campaign to help earn bragging right for the agency that collects
the most units of blood.

Every day, badge-carrying personnel inspire their communities by
putting their lives on the line to protect and serve. By
participating in this initiative, they have showcased yet another
aspect of heroism by demonstrating your unwavering commitment to
community service.
