Van Nuys – On Sunday, December 31, 2000, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Van Nuys Patrol officers responded to a radio call of a stabbing in the 13300 block of Oxnard Street. The victim, Rafael Guijarro, a male Hispanic, 48 years of age, was found suffering from a stab wound in the upper torso area. Guijarro was transported to Holy Cross Medical Center where he died from his injury at 5:00 a.m.
While conducting the investigation, detectives became aware that the victim and his son, 16 years of age, had engaged in an argument, which led to a physical assault. The victim was stabbed in the upper torso by his son. The suspect was arrested without incident and is being detained at a juvenile facility.
