Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division detectives are investigating a hit and run and are looking for additional witnesses to the collision.
On Wednesday, September 17, 2014, around 6:50 p.m., a hit and run traffic collision occurred on Van Nuys Boulevard and Telfair Avenue. A green Ford Expedition collided with a 23-year-old pedestrian, a Pacoima resident, and left the scene. Several witnesses, including an off duty LAPD officer told responding officers where the suspected driver was at and he was apprehended approximately 14 blocks from where the collision occurred.
The driver of the green Ford Expedition, preliminarily identified as Jairo Alvarado, 23 years of age, failed to stop and render aid or identify himself.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.
